Swalk Stick was originally designed by The Innovative 3 (Koay Xian Cong, Lim Wei Chung and Crement Ong) in December 2016. We started making the Swalk Stick using PVC pipes to make the first prototype. Initially, we won the Young Innovative Challenge State Level. Since then, we presented the Swalk Stick to the public during Chung Ling High School Centenary, Turning Research Into Ideas and Symposium 2017.
In November 2017, we used the Swalk Stick to represent my school participated and won second prize in the Penang International Science Fair (PISF) which is organized by Penang Science Cluster (PSC).
In December 2017, we started design Swalk Stick version 2. We formed another team by adding 2 new Makers and formed team Voltage (Koay Xian Cong, Lim Wei Chung, Crement Ong, Lee Zong Junn and Owen Loh). We started doing the project by 3D-designing the model using AutoCAD and 3D printed it out.
Next, we started developing new code and fixing errors and our limitations in the past. We added new functions onto it including automatic glow in the dark.
On April 2018, Team Voltage joined SIRIM Invention, Innovation & Technology Expo. It was a national competition and we won the Gold Award in the engineering field.
In July 2018, Team Voltage participated in STEM Carnival Invention Competition organized by Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia and won Gold Award.
Although all of the team members had been separated after high school, Team Voltage had never been abolished. I wish that we could work together again as a team in the near future.
